Winter warmth inside our model home: The Townsend

Who says winter has to be depressing? It can also be warm and cozy. Here’s an example of a perfect winter afternoon in Central Tennessee.

Imagine going for a crisp hike in the beautiful woods surrounding The River Club.

Today it’s supposed to hit 63 degrees with brilliant sunshine overhead. Put on a lightweight jacket, find your sunglasses and go exploring. Since the leaves are off the trees, the sunlight will stream through the branches and cast thin shadows on the ground. Walk through the woods and smell the air, washed clean by winter breezes. Feel the firm ground underfoot. Maybe venture down to the river and take a moment to watch it flow. Imagine how the sound of water relaxes you, and rinses away all your cares.

When late afternoon arrives, and you start to feel tired, return to your beautiful home: The Townsend. Enter your covered porch, maybe leaving your muddy boots by the door. Walk through the door, stroll through the great room to your kitchen and grab yourself a hot cup of tea or cider. Take a moment to sit on the couch in your living room and feel how delicious it is to put your feet up after a long hike. Maybe even take a moment to watch the news or your favorite sports show.

Once you’ve sufficiently relaxed, you might want to put on something more comfortable. You can go into your master bedroom where you have a spacious walk-in closet. Choose among your favorite items, then stroll into your fully equipped kitchen to prepare dinner with your spouse. Something warm and comforting- like a beef stew- is always perfect for these later days in January.

After dinner, before it gets too cold, you can throw on a warm sweater and grab a glass of Tennessee whiskey to keep you warm. Venture out onto your deck (it’s right off the kitchen/dining area, so no need to move far from the table) and watch the beautiful winter sunset.

Alternatively, you can stroll down to our clubhouse and roast some marshmallows on the fire pit. Or, just chill out and watch the flames. What more could you want in a day?
